Organization Actions
This is a page describing actions that our members/organization have taken to help the earth. Hopefully you can get some ideas of things to do! If you have something that you have done, please email us, and we'll put it under individual actions. We would love to hear from you!
Recent events:
Helix Nebula's Tree speech:
Recently Helix nebula made a wonderful speech about the importance of trees and protecting them. You can find it in the inspirational section. Please read it!
Earth Day Ent Walk:
For earth day Ernest went to school dressed as an ent complete with leaves and vines! As part of our first ent army campaign, Ernest made an announcement encouraging people to help the environment and remember earth day by taking small actions like putting their waste in the correct bins and picking up trash.
Here is a picture of Ernest wearing the ent armor:
Happy Earth Day!
The Tree Monument Rebellion:
So at the school of a few of our members, there was a massive construction project that involved almost all of the trees being cut down. After asking about what would happen to a very special tree, we tried to protest the plans by emailing the head of school about it. Ernest eventually created a video protesting the killing of this tree. Here is the video:

However, the protests were not successful and the trees were cut down in order to create turf fields. Because of this, Ernest, Helix Nebula, and Red Wolf created a tree sculpture to put on the turf field as a memorial and statement in honor of the trees. They left a note for the head of school, complete with a copy of The Lorax, and set the memorial and an "unless" stone (Lorax refence, you must read it!) out on the field. However, it was soon taken down. They plan to meet with the administration and possibly put the sculpture up again. While this campaign was largely unsuccessful, we hope that it helped to spread awareness of the destruction of our trees friends and make people think about it a bit more. Older Events:
Helping Injured Animals with a Very Strange Play:
Last year, a school eco club containing most of our members put on a play for some lower schools encouraging them to donate supplies to the Schuylkill Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. We collected trash bags, paper towels, laundry detergent, and blankets for orphaned and injured animals. Here is a picture from the play:

The Cafeteria Crusade:
For the last seven years, our founding members (Ernest, Helix Nebula, and Red Wolf) have been running a campaign to make their school cafeteria greener. It began with an effort to replace styrofoam plates with reusable ones, and has spread to compostable bowls, and metal silverware.
But guess what? Recently, some younger lower schoolers put together an effort to create sorting bins for waste in the lunchrooms. These bins help people sort compost, recycling, and trash so that waste is disposed of as cleanly as possible. We are so proud of them! With our efforts and the younger lower schoolers following in our footsteps, generations of students at our school have been able to help our cafeteria and world become greener. Keep going lower schoolers and we've got your backs!

Individual Actions
Wetlands Trash Clean up:
Kayaking to a wetlands that someone related to both Ernest and RecyclingQueen helped to save, Ernest was able to collect a lot of litter and trash and throw it away, reducing the pollution and choking risk for the wildlife in the ecosystem. Here is a picture of the litter:
Plastic: The Scavenger Hunt:
Member Monkeylover has recently created an amazing website called Plastic: The Scavenger Hunt, which is a collaborative scavenger hunt for litter around the world. Here is the site: https://sites.google.com/site/plasticthescavengerhunt/home
You should check it out!
Squirrel Rescue:
Ernest and family rescued a squirrel! He was sick and dying in their yard but they took him to the Schuylkill Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. His name is Apsen. Good luck Aspen! Here is the link to the schuylkill wildlife rehabilitation center's page. They are an organization that helps to treat orphaned and injured wildlife.
